Default Is it supposed to be this easy?

I know next to nothing about this game. Just signed up this week.

I have a level 8 Dervish. I was having trouble with energy until I dumped points into Mysticism. Now my party is taking out groups of mobs 5 levels higher than them.

Should I be charging in with higher level mobs in this game? Is the solo PVE just easy? I have to say, a group of NPC bots do their jobs better than most PUGs I've been in in other MMOs.

I'm running with the Hero tank and healer, and an NPC leader paragon-type, and my Flamingo...not looking for advice on the build.

Your in the introduction to the game until you hit 20...

Spose I should also add that the game is fairly easy in general

Okay, thanks. That helps clear it up. I don't like to stress about PVE, I like to PVP, so that is fine. I'm still learning to juggle enchantments, so I'm not ready for that, yet.

like end said in PvE you are preety much a noob until you hit lvl 20. So i wouldnt be so quick to judge NF so quickly, dont worry, you'll see NF gets jsut a tad bit harder once you get to the tormented realm and your doing the gate missions.

Just a tad bit? lol I'd say it gets a little harder than that. But yeah, dont worry, the game gets harder but not to the point where its not enjoyable. Plus the game has a hard mode after you beat it if you're looking for more of a pve challenge

Small warning
Don't put to much effort in learning to "juggle enchantments" if you plan to PvP. Dervishes are rarely seen these days and the few glory days they had were due to their ability to deal high spike damage and never really to "juggle enchantments" (beside the odd Dervish bomber now and than). It also doesn't work well since in a team setting you'll get enchantments from your monks, which you don't wanna strip. An upcoming update might change that in the future, but we know little of it's impact yet.

The learning curve in PvP is steep these days and you are better off concentrating on general field awareness and positioning.

Have fun and enjoy!

And yes, the game is fairly easy if you don't go for hard mode or high end areas (and even those are with a bit of experience).

Yeah, pvping with a derv means u run WS atm unless you do RA. Observe and take note that dervs are not too popular in pvp and unless they get buffed they wont be any time soon.
PvE with a derv=soloing mobs easy and if you bring 2 monks and a interrupter you can fly through pretty much everything.

Thanks for all the help! I can see that this is a really good community, now.

As for the "juggling" enchantments, I don't think I was very clear. I am loathe to strip good enchantments, I like getting the bonuses when they end and the energy back from Mysticism. I meant that I am just trying to get the knack of keeping my eye on which ones are ending and knowing by the icon which key to pop to put the enchant back up. Just basics.

The Avatar of Lyssa build looks like fun. So does the Mystic Sandstorm build, but I've read good and bad about that. Sometimes it is hard to tell what is outdated. Honestly, the Avatars don't look weak, they look difficult. On a HoX in AoC you'd just pop Avatar and you were a killing machine. With these Avatars, it looks as though you need to choose your skills wisely to compliment them. A little more challenging.

The Random Arenas looks like a great place to get your feet wet in PVP and experiment.

Thanks, again.

The problem is that they've got far too much downtime. You'll generally spend more time out of form than in form (except in PvE, where you've got this broken PvE-only skill that lets you recharge your Avatar on demand), so you'll have to pick skills that go great with your avatar, but are also useful by themselves.

If you want to experiment, I'd just join a guild and Scrimmage first. Once you're satisfied with your build, take it to RA. I personally wouldn't try Sandstorm there by the way, save that for when you're playing FA or JQ, or possibly AB.

yes, pve as a derv is easy.

1. Get Aura of holy might, asuran scan and "by urals hammer!"

2. Then get one of the rit heroes and slap this on:

http://pvx.wikia.com/wiki/Build:Rt/any_SoS_Channeling_Rit

with the smiting options (judges insight, SoH).

Change your controls so that a key (I use 9) orders the hero to put splinter weapon on you.

Roll face on keyboard through PvE.

Not exactly a fair statement. You get off noob island at lvl 16-18 in nightfall, 12-16 in factions, and 1-20 in proph (usually see people leave pre at ~lvl 8 if they played it normally, and I don't know anyone that doesn't get an immediate run to LA/droks.) If you intend to pvp with that pve character from nf you need to reach the gate of torment to actually have sufficient (as well as your best) skills available. Minus pvp unlocking and tome-ing them, which you probably can't afford as a new player. Generally, you will need to complete at least one campaign and travel to the others to have enough skills available to a pve character to attempt pvp with them.
If you're really into pvp, you might consider rolling a pvp only character so you can pvp right away.

I'm talking from the top of my head now, haven't logged in for months...

Settings>Control>Make hero 1 use skill 1...8

Should be something like that, and is very useful in specific situations.

This right here. To make things easier use an ER healer or N/Rt healer or a protter and a minion bomber.

Jokes aside...
I'm eagerly waiting for the upcoming Dervish update to see how it changes the profession. But right now, in my opinion as a Dervish player, this profession is quite versatile and fun to play, but most of what it can do, another profession can do it better!
Now I don't want to disappoint you, I enjoy playing the Dervish more than anything else even in their supposedly underpowered state.

So long as XxX Reaper XxX or XxX Reap Scythe XxX types are around, so shall be the Dervish. Btw, welcome to Guru, Burjis.
